    The FT School-Age Coordinator will assist in developing, implementing, managing, and supervising the Y-KIDS before and after school programs; School Break Camp and Summer Daze Programs in the Child Achievement Branch.

     

    Responsibilities

    • Develop, implement, manage and supervise School-Age Y-Kids Before/After School Programs. Ensure all sign-ins/outs and rosters are accurate, complete and up-to-date. Work closely with school administration and personnel within school districts – keep communication lines open via daily emails, phone calls and/or faxes.
    • Create and maintain age-appropriate curriculum for all School-Age Y-Kids Before/After School Programs. Ensure that the curriculum followed at each site is in accordance with the approved policies and procedures of The Community YMCA.
    • Ensure that all sites are in full compliance with state regulations and meet/exceed YMCA Quality Standards. Understand and coordinate emergency procedures for all southern region sites. Ensure staff awareness at all southern region sites.
    • Visit School-Age Y-Kids Before/After School Programs on a weekly schedule. Create visitation log, record observations and follow up on needed improvements. Advise, supervise, support, and encourage all school age staff. Discuss child behavioral/parent concerns with School-Age Director before any action is taken. Meet with School-Age Director on a weekly basis in order to discuss observations, concerns and questions.
    • Plan, schedule and organize all School Break Camps and Summer Daze Programs. Create and maintain curriculum and activity schedules for all School Break Camps/Summer Daze Programs. Program site/classrooms should appear neat, clean and well-stocked with supplies throughout the duration of the program. Ensure all School Break Camp & Summer Daze sign-ins/outs and rosters are accurate, complete and up-to-date.
    • Attend local community events to increase Y-awareness and promote all programs. Copy and distribute correspondence (flyers, evaluations, etc.) to all local school districts/sites. Ensure that correspondence is being distributed properly at each site.
    • Conduct self in a professional manner at all times with children, parents, co-workers and community. Act in accordance with the YMCA philosophy, school-age goals, program objectives and policies & procedures.
    • Report any suspected child abuse to School Age Director. Document as necessary.
    • Participate actively in Annual Campaign; recruit volunteers to form a team; encourage, assist, and support all volunteers; attend all scheduled meetings and special events. Create plan to reach personal goal.
    • Assume or perform any other duties deemed necessary by immediate supervisor or The Community YMCA Administration.

    Qualifications

    The FT School Age Coordinator must have a College degree in Education or a related field. NJ teacher certificate or Group Teacher Certificate preferred; He/she must also have experience working with school-age children and supervising staff.

    The candidate must be at least 21 years of age and demonstrate being a positive role model for the children we serve.
