Under the direction and supervision of the Preschool Director, the F/T Red Bank Preschool (RBPS) teacher will be responsible for planning, developing, and implementing classroom activities and following the designed TOM curriculum during the months of September through June. The RBPS teacher will also be assigned to work in a YMCA Youth Development program for the months of July and August. The F/T RBPS Teacher is responsible for ensuring the children’s social, physical, emotional, and intellectual development in our program.


  1. Plan, supervise, and implement the program in accordance with the goals and policies of The Community YMCA as well as the Red Bank School District. Ensure that the classroom is in compliance with the standards set forth by The Community YMCA and the Red Bank School District as well as with state and local licensing codes.
  2. Understand and implement all emergency plans and procedures of your classroom and facility. Ensure that the children who are being picked up at the school are released only to the child’s custodial parent/guardian or person authorized by the custodial parent/guardian.
  3. Report any suspected child abuse to the Preschool Director. Document as necessary.
  4. Conduct self in a professional manner at all times with children, parents, co-workers, and community. Maintain a professional, friendly, respectful, and cooperative relationship with staff and administration of the Red Bank School District. Effectively communicate with parents verbally on a daily basis, as well as during parent/family events, parent/teacher conferences, etc. *Any and all written communication shall first be approved by the Vice President before distribution.
  5. Monthly calendars, lesson plans, reports, etc. shall be completed professionally and in a timely manner and then turned in to the Preschool Director as well as the Red Bank School District for approval within the time frame mandated by such.
  6. Responsible for the appearance of the classroom and maintaining the quality of supplies, equipment, and materials in the classroom. Also responsible for the appearance of the facility, including bulletin boards and bathrooms.
  7. Encourage parent participation in all family events. Must attend mandatory family events such as Preschool Orientation, Back to School Night, October Family Fun Fest, International Pot Luck Dinner, Annual Family Picnic, Healthy Kids Day, etc.
  8. Must attend bi-weekly teacher meetings with the Preschool Director, RBPS staff trainings throughout the year and annual YMCA trainings in August/September, any First Aid/CPR trainings when offered, and at least twenty hours of staff development training during the year. Continue professional development by reading educational magazines offered, attending workshops and Early Childhood Conferences, as well as any required YMCA and Red Bank School District functions.
  9. Actively participate in the Annual Campaign; recruit volunteers to form a team; encourage, assist, and support all volunteers; enthusiastically solicit donations to meet goal; attend all scheduled Annual Campaign meetings, Kick-Off, and Victory Celebration.
  10. Assume and perform any other duties/functions as directed by The Community YMCA Administration.

The F/T RBPS Teacher must have a New Jersey Teaching Certificate with a P-3 certification/endorsement. He/she must also have experience working with preschool children as well as experience in the supervision of staff. The F/T RBPS Teacher must be CPR, First Aid, and Epi-pen certified.

  1. Ability to hear the conversational voice with or without a hearing aid.
  2. Ability to see with or without corrective lenses.
  3. Ability to speak and be understood under normal circumstances.
  4. Ability to lift and carry children in an emergency, as well as lift and move classroom furniture.
  5. Ability to use arms, legs, and feet to accomplish the job.
  6. Ability to evacuate the building during emergencies.
